So, what is coaching anyway?

You may be wondering the same thing. Here is a little secret....I love when people ask me "What is coaching? All too often people might worry about offending me with this question. Not the case! When someone asks me about coaching, they have just given me the opportunity to explain more about what coaching really is and what it can do!

Coaching is a beautiful process of creating a safe space for you to uncover where you are currently, as in what you are thinking and feeling, and help you create goals to get you to where you desire to be. As a Christian Life Coach, I partner with my clients, and the Holy Spirit, to help them on their journey by getting to know them and what’s important to them, asking thought provoking questions that help gain clarity on where you are and where you want to go, and help you to set up a goal that is attainable and comfortable to you to impact your God-given potential. Creating a safe space for my clients where they can be transparent with me in a judgment free zone is very important and necessary. This environment allows my client to explore their thoughts openly. As we focus on your values, strengths, and spiritual gifts you can discover how God might be calling you to use them!

You might be thinking, Ok that all makes sense but HOW does coaching work?

Coaching is a series of steps where the coach and client (you) agree upon a meeting time and connect on zoom (there are other ways to connect) to discuss a current topic where the client (you) might feel stuck. What does it mean to feel stuck? Maybe it's unclear on your thoughts, maybe it's hidden feelings you haven't unraveled yet, maybe it feels overwhelming and you just don't know where to begin. That's where a coach comes in. I use a model that takes you through becoming aware of what you are thinking, then begin to envision how it might be different and ending with you creating your next steps. With the thought provoking questions I'll ask and the response you give the three of us (remember we always invite the Holy Spirit in) come to a resolution so you can gain clarity around the situation and decide how to move forward.

But wait... Isn't coaching like counseling?

No. You, like many others, also may be asking "Isn't coaching just like counseling?" The short answer is "No". A counselor helps someone with things in their past that are normally deep emotional seeds that have planted themselves within. A coach helps focus on the future and moving forward. A coach helps you gain clarity on your situation and partners with you to plan your next steps of action.

Hmmmm...I bet you are wondering if coaching is for you!

Coaching is for anyone who is ready to make some changes in their life. As coaches we trust that our clients have the answers within them. By partnering with a Life Coach and the Holy Spirit you can truly have a transformational coaching session. Having a safe space to peel back the layers of our thoughts can create clarity. Once we have more clarity around a situation isn't it easier to decide what to do next?

I desire for my clients to feel excited and alive when we are done coaching. I want you to feel ready to tackle whatever comes you way! I want you to feel that you are ready to take steps forward! With the Holy Spirit by your side He will guide your way so your path is clear.

I love this bible passage-

Jeremiah 29:11- "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

It gives me comfort to know that the Lord already knows the plan and has it all figured out for me! Taking the time to get clarity that is needed can allow you to slow down and figure out what God's plan is for you. A Life Coach can certainly help with that process!

Till next time friends! Blessings!
